Played in a cart after my Pull day at the gym. Winds at 16 km/h constant with gusts up to 29. Most holes were into the wind, only 2 downwind. Ball striking wasn’t my best but the 56° kept me afloat on short approaches and I managed my way around the course.
Hit driver off the deck on two holes when the situation called for it. No hesitation.
What worked:
- Same swing, one or two more clubs, never tried to force it into the wind
- 56° short game holding the round together
- Committed shots even when the wind was awkward
Wind strategy confirmed: Normal tempo, extra club. Trying to hit harder adds spin and kills you. This isn’t a guess anymore, it’s proven.
An 81 in those conditions is a mature score. I was surprised by it, which means I handled it better than I thought I was.
